Learning Irish dance can be enjoyed at many levels.  As a fun form of physical activity, as a stimulating way of acquiring movement skill, as a form of musical and artistic expression, and as a route to becoming an elite athlete and performer.

We are exceptionally well equipped to provide children with a high quality experience of dance.  We combine success at the highest level of competition with an in-depth understanding of the science of dance.

We appreciate that dancers are individuals and tailor our teaching approach to ma
ximise the opportunities for learning and enjoyment.

All dancers will have the opportunity to take part in an annual theatre production as well as get a taste of competition in a fun and supportive environment.

In the long term, a great attitude to learning and an enjoyment of training is the best route to excellence in dance.

On an ongoing basis, achievement awards will be offered to dancers in recognition of their development and progress.

How to Join our School
We run a school where every individual counts.

Our classes are well structured, and we have created a fun but challenging learning environment that encourages children to progress towards their potential as dancers.  We focus on building children's confidence and self-belief, and recognise and reward sustained application and effort.

Feedback from recent Dance Assemblies at Local Primary Schools
"The children and staff throughly enjoyed your dancing demonstration and found it difficult to believe how such young children could display such amazing skills.
Sian Roffe, Headteacher, Eltham Church of England Primary School

"Both pupils and staff at Crofton Park Infant school were extremely impressed by the high quality of Irish dancing that was demonstrated in an assembly.  The children were very well motivated and disciplined, dancing beautifully in time to the music and showing an enormous amount of skill and enjoyment"
Sarah Warshow, Deputy Headteacher, Crofton Park Infant School

"A fantastic display of young talent" & "I was blown away by the performance".
Teachers from Bursted Wood Primary School

Professional Standards, Training & Development
We undergo training with Dance Links, an educational initiative funded through PESSYP, Physical Education, School Sport & Young People.  Dance Links
sets standards for in-school and out-of-school dance provision and improves links between School Sport Partnerships and dance providers.  We plan our teaching and coaching to satisfy the ten outcomes of high quality dance as prescribed by Dance Links.

Performance Opportunities
Irish dance is very entertaining to watch and we provide dancers with many and varied opportunities to demonstrate their growing competence and skill.  We hold regular school socials, stage an annual theatre production, perform at festivals, private functions, civic receptions as well as charitable and corporate events. In addition, many dancers enjoy the thrill of competing at local, regional and national competitions.

Class Feis
An annual event that is eagerly anticipated by dancers, their families and friends. Young dancers gain invaluable stage experience, and parents get to view their children's development in a supportive, friendly and fun environment.

Celtic Manoeuvres
We deliver high-end Irish entertainment for corporate and private clients.  Our most skilled and e
xperienced dancers have frequent opportunities to perform in a paid capacity.  Corporate bookings are the domain of postpubescent dancers, but weddings and private events often demand very young dancers.

Staying Injury Free
Our advanced level classes take place in a dance studio with a sprung-floor. This satisfies a key requirement for dance as prescribed by Youth Dance England, the national organisation that champions and promotes dance for children and young people. YDE is funded by Arts Council England, the Department for Education's Music & Dance Scheme and the Department for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport.

Irish dance is a high impact form of physical activity and care should be taken to avoid dancing on surfaces that do not provide adequate shock absorption if short and long-term injury is to be avoided.
In the right environment, Irish dance is both stimulating and immensely enjoyable.  In an unsuitable setting, it risks physical injury.
